Non-Woven Wine Bag Guide: Sizes, Load Ratings & Handle Options

Non-woven wine bags are designed for retail packaging and gifting of wine, spirits, and fruit wines. The bag profile is typically a tall, upright shape that must fit precisely around the bottle's diameter and height — and the handle must support the weight of one bottle (approximately 1.5 kg) or two bottles (approximately 3 kg).

Standard Size Reference

Single-bottle (750 ml wine bottle): 13–15 cm wide × 35–38 cm tall, gusset 8–10 cm. Double-bottle: 22–24 cm wide × 35–38 cm tall, gusset 8–10 cm. For Chinese spirits in 500 ml square bottles, the wider bottle diameter requires an extra ~2 cm in width — a pre-production sample is strongly recommended to confirm fit.

Handle Design

Wine bags demand stronger handles than standard tote bags. We recommend reinforced PP handles (2.5–3 cm wide) or webbing handles, with a carry length of 40–50 cm for comfortable over-the-shoulder use. The handle attachment points must be double-stitched for added security. If you opt for a die-cut same-fabric handle, make sure the punch-out area is reinforced with a backing patch or heat-sealed gusset to prevent tearing.

Load Testing Method

Fill the bottle(s) with water and place them in the bag. Suspend the bag statically for 5 minutes — 1.5 kg for a single-bottle bag, 3 kg for a double-bottle bag. The bag passes if neither the handle breaks nor the seams tear.

Recommended Fabric Weight

A base fabric of 90 gsm or above is recommended for wine bags. For extra peace of mind, ask your factory to apply a double-layer heat-seal reinforcement at the bottom panel, which significantly reduces the risk of the base splitting under load.

Printing Recommendations
